reviving the blog

when I started this blog, I thought I would find all sorts of neat photos to share, lately that hasn't happened. Not that I haven't seen those shots, but I just haven't blogged about them.

I'm going to make a concerted effort to change that. Not that you the reader will notice much, but more for my own benefit. I suppose that is what a blog is anyway, at least at this point this one is.

some recent shots

I was in downtown Gloversville the other day and came upon this alleyway. Now as you know I'm looking at buildings all day long at work. I don't get to see a lot of 'new' structures, especially in this area of NY.

I've learned to appreciate some of the features of the old ones, however. I love the texture and lighting of this shot, evidently there is a light well running all the way up in the center of the building.

I also manipulated it a bit...

heavy weather

On my way home from my masonic lodge's annual picnic, I saw a pretty large dark cloud:

There were storm warnings being broadcast, so I was keeping an eye out for heavy rain etc...

I didn't see that, but what I did find was much more surprising. For at least 5 miles every time there were leaves on the shoulders and across the highway. I wish I had stopped and shot a photo, but at the time I thought it was just debris from a truck.

Here's what I did see:

That's the remains of a major hail storm. it looked like it had been snowing, which, I suppose, was the case!

Pocono shots

time stands still at PLP

here's a little vignette I had to shoot, and manipulate just a tad...

The camp we stayed in had some neat woodworking touches:

I can see making several of these... only with wooden support vs cast iron. It will look particularly nice in cherry.

I don't know what the wood is, I think Mahagony, very simple, yet very comfortable bench in front of the fireplace.
